I grew up an hour's drive away from New Smyrna Beach. To say I frequently visited that beach would be an understatement. I have been a countless number of times as it is my favorite beach in all of Florida. My love for NSB runs deep! It has kept a small town vibe throughout the 30+ years that I have been visiting, which can't be said for it's northerly neighbor. Here are my top 10 places to chow down in New Smyrna Beach!
This casual indoor/outdoor restaurant is located on the inter-coastal. They have great food, drink selections and happy hour specials. You'll typically catch some live music if you head there in the late afternoon and into the evening. Stop by for lunch or dinner!
2. The Garlic
This eclectic Italian restaurant is truly one of the most well known dinner spots in NSB. With an emphasis on Tuscan cuisine, there is something for everyone on their extensive menu. The Garlic was also featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Dive-Ins and Dives, so you know it's good! They have plenty of seating options inside and out where no two rooms are the same. They do not take reservations, and during season, the wait can get relatively long. I suggest going early or waiting until the typical dinner rush thins out.
Located on the West end of Flagler Ave., this quaint and cozy Mediterranean cafe boasts a lovely selection of starters, seafood & large entrees, and pizza! Their carefully curated wine list elevates the experience just enough to make you feel casual and bougie all at the same time. Don't miss their yummy brunch menu + heavy pour mimosas.
Translating to "My Delight", this French bakery is certainly that! I have been coming here since I was a kid and always try to pick up something delectable when I'm in the area. I always recommend stopping by first thing in the morning to grab a sandwich to eat for lunch while spending the day on the beach. You'll thank me later!
Great sandwich, salad and BBQ spot that originated in the Orlando area. Very relaxed and casual, but always serves up some of the yummiest food. If you're a beer fan, you can expect them to frequently rotate different seasonal craft brews. Who doesn't like an ice cold beer to wash down some delicious BBQ?!
This casual restaurant located right on A1A, just over the south causeway, is one that you can't miss. The 2nd story bar was constructed to look just like a treehouse. You can catch nightly live music, munch on amazing seafood options and imbibe delicious craft cocktails.
Right on the main drag of Flagler Avenue stands the aptly named Flagler Tavern. This casual, multi leveled restaurant and bar covers all the bases. From surf and turf, burgers and wings in the main dining area, to the prohibition era cocktail bar located upstairs at the Bounty, you can't go wrong! They've got live music every day. If you're looking for a place for dancing, stick around late night and boogie 'til you drop!
Another iconic staple of NSB is none other than JB's Fish Camp. This place started out as a shack on the river in the late 1970's and has grown to become one of NSB's most notable places to grab some grub and rent water equipment. Yummy peel & eat and popcorn shrimp are served in red and white striped paper baskets. Make sure you order the french fries! It's the perfect place to watch a sunset over the river. Don't miss it!
9. The Breakers
The Breakers Restaurant is located right on New Smyrna Beach. This is the perfect spot for a delicious burger and other various types of satisfying bar food. Sip on an ice cold Piña Colada and people watch as the sun shines!
10. Cafe Verde
This cafe offers all-natural dishes like salads, gyros, tacos and rice bowls. They have tons of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options as well. I recommend coming here for a nice healthy lunch. And don't miss their Sunday Brunch!!
